Following the revelation that comedian Steve Rannazzisi lied about surviving the 9/11 terrorist attack, the restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings has pulled the plug on an advertising campaign featuring Rannazzisi.

The New York Times reports that the company released a statement today saying: “Upon careful review, we have decided to discontinue airing our current television commercials featuring Steve Rannazzisi.”

The company reportedly did not comment further.

TMZ.com notes: “One of the spots … which co-stars NFL Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith … has been in heavy rotation lately as the NFL season began. Rannazzisi has done several different commercials for the restaurant.”

Comedy Central has a special featuring Rannazzisi, “Breaking Dad,” scheduled to premiere Saturday and has said it is evaluating the situation.
