Comedy Central Locks In a Key Piece of Its Late-Night Lineup

Sep 15, 2015  •  Post A Comment

With its late-night lineup in a state of flux following the departures of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Comedy Central ordered a little bit of stability by renewing its “Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore” for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports.

“The pickup will ensure that Wilmore’s late-night series will remain on the air through the end of 2016,” THR notes. “The news comes as Comedy Central is poised to launch the Trevor Noah era at ‘The Daily Show’ on Sept. 28. Between Noah and Wilmore, Comedy Central now has its election 2016 team set.”

Wilmore recently marked his 100th episode of the show, which took over the slot previously held by “The Colbert Report” leading out from “Daily Show.”

  1. Very interesting. This show is not producing the ratings that “Colbert Report” once did. It is starting to seem as though Comedy Central is becoming an “also ran” network…

  2. A one year contract is not a strong commitment.
