Donald Trump Ends Lawsuits Against NBC — Here’s How They Resolved Differences Over Miss Universe

Sep 11, 2015  •  Post A Comment

Donald Trump has called off his lawsuits against NBC stemming from their differences over the Miss Universe pageant. Variety reports that Trump bought out NBC’s ownership share in the organization and now owns it outright.

In a Tweet, Trump announced: “Just purchased NBC’s half of The Miss Universe Organization and settled all lawsuits against them. Now own 100% — stay tuned!”

The move follows a turbulent period for Trump and NBC, after the network severed ties with Trump over his remarks about Mexican immigrants as he was launching his presidential bid. NBC refused to air the Miss USA Pageant, which was a co-production between NBC and Trump. Trump also exited his host’s chair on NBC’s “Apprentice” programs.

“Trump also filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision Communications for refusing to air [Miss USA], which eventually aired on Reelz,” Variety notes.

Trump is scheduled to make an appearance on the network tonight, on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.”

  1. TRUMP for PRES 2016!

  2. The pageant is worthless unless Trump sells the rights and is no longer connected. Even then, TV ratings and interest is at an all-time low so Trump is going to be a “loser” either way.

  3. As a former executive producer of Miss U and Miss USA in the 90’s I can tell you they were an anachronism back then. It’s fitting that the GOP front runner owns a property that’s so out of touch with women and the 21st century.
Maybe his new campaign slogan should be “Hitch your wagon to a rock”. Kinda caTchy.

  4. Go Trump, good dawn job! You just made a network fold their deck. Who can do that? The Donald is who!
