Kevin Spacey’s asides on the Netflix drama “House of Cards,” where he turns to the camera to explain what’s really going on, have been the subject of speculation as to just whom his character is addressing.
Now Spacey has offered an interpretation that, while it probably won’t put an end to the speculation, is amusing in its own right. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Spacey talked about breaking the “fourth wall” during an appearance Wednesday night on CBS’s “Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
After Colbert asked Spacey about the asides, “The star of the Netflix political drama … replied while staring into the camera as Frank Underwood does,” THR reports. Said Spacey, as Underwood: “This is the truth form the very beginning. When I’m looking directly into that camera, I’m talking to one person, and one person only. And that is Donald Trump. … Now, it all starts to make sense.”
Well we know it’s not an acting coach.
