Trump’s War With Fox News Heats Up as Both Sides Launch Verbal Attacks

Sep 24, 2015  •  Post A Comment

Fox News Channel and GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump are firing verbal jabs back and forth.

The New York Times reports that after Trump sent out a tweet Wednesday saying he won’t be appearing on Fox “for the foreseeable future,” the cable channel responded with its own account of the latest rift.

“In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, the network said that Mr. Trump’s post seemed to have been prompted by its decision, shortly before noon, to cancel his scheduled appearance Thursday on ‘The O’Reilly Factor,'” The Times reports.

Trump had tweeted earlier in the day that he felt Fox News had been treating him “very unfairly.” He added that he had “therefore decided that I won’t be doing any more Fox shows for the foreseeable future.”

In response, Fox News issued a statement saying: “The press predictably jumped to cover his tweet, creating yet another distraction from any real issues that Mr. Trump might be questioned about. When coverage doesn’t go his way, he engages in personal attacks on our anchors and hosts, which has grown stale and tiresome. He doesn’t seem to grasp that candidates telling journalists what to ask is not how the media works in this country.”

The Trump camp was standing its ground, coming back with its own statement saying: “As a candidate for president of the United States and the definitive front-runner in every poll, both nationally and state wide, including the just released poll in the state of Florida, Mr. Trump expects to be treated fairly. All you have to do is look at the tremendous ratings last night from ‘The Late Show’ with Stephen Colbert, where Mr. Trump was the guest, or the ratings from both debates, to fully understand the facts.”

Trump has been at odds with Fox News since the first GOP debate back in early August, when Trump took offense at the questions he received from moderator Megyn Kelly, one of Fox’s stars. The channel has been strongly supportive of Kelly, who has been the focus of a series of verbal attacks by Trump.

  1. He and Fox News deserve each other. Let the conflagration begin!

  2. This may finally be the one that does Trump in. Attacking the channel of the Right Wing Conservatives will cause even his most loyal followers to take a second look at Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson. If he wants to attack media he needs to focus on MSNBC. The Republicans will love that. Fox has already been promoting Fiorina, this will just cause them to pick up that promotion and get her more free publicity “Trump style”. Today they were running her new anti-Planned Parenthood ad at least once or twice per hour on every show on Fox and Fox News. Fox would love to have a woman to position against Hillary.

  3. I will not be wstching Fox. Carly is the least qualified of all the 17 candidates. She fired 30,000 people and was fired herself. She ran for senator and lost. If she weren’t a woman, she wouldn’t have been on the stage; she would be condidered a joke. She also lied about the Planned Parenthood video.

  4. FOX news is a joke and desperate to keep the establishment afloat. Its time for a change. Unlike the liberals who enjoy being led by the nose, repubs think with their own minds. Trump is the only candidate who isnt a puppet to the lobbyists. They cant control him therefore they dont want him. Nobody gives a shit what he said about that ratings whore whose only looking out for her career, Meghan. Trump is the peoples choice and FOX is out for blood. They arent fooling anyone.

  5. If FOX wants to attack a candidate they shod focus on Hillary. Attacking FOX is a brilliant move on Trimps part. FOX is as much as a problem as the weasel do nothing candidates that are useless puppets to the lobbyists. FOX no longer reports the news. Its molds it. These fools, promoting the establishment, that keeps losing us elections, think they know whats best for us. What a joke. F U FIX news. Trump is just about tied or winning with every candidate. He is the only true choice of the people and not the lobbyists. He should be treated with respect like all the other candidates. A child could see whats going on.
