ABC is giving some of its programs a chance to settle in. On the heels of a full-season pickup for the freshman drama series “Quantico,” which we reported yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that the network placed a back-nine order for the second-season comedy “Fresh Off the Boat.”
“Renewed for 13 episodes — the same as its freshman run, for which the 1990s-set comedy launched midseason — the Tuesday comedy returned with a fall launch and a strong lead-in from proven brand ‘The Muppets,'” THR notes. “The season-two premiere pulled an impressive 6 million total viewers and 1.9 million among adults 18-49 following ‘The Muppets” solid debut. That was up from the season-one finale in April.”
The report notes that “Fresh Off the Boat” has been averaging 5.2 million total viewers in Live+Same Day figures through its first three episodes of the season. The back-nine order will give the show a full 22-episode run for its sophomore season.
