Comedy Central Orders Series — ‘SNL’ Alum on Board

Oct 20, 2015  •  Post A Comment

Comedy Central has given a series order to a new comedy. Variety reports that the project, “Detroiters,” is created by Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson, with “Saturday Night Live” alum Jason Sudeikis on board as an executive producer.

Sudeikis will also appear in some episodes.

Richardson and Robinson will write the series and will also executive produce. Other writers are Joe Kelly and Zach Kanin. Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video is also behind the project.

Richardson and Robinson are Detroit natives and Second City alums, the report notes. The series focuses on “small-time ad men who aspire to help turn their hometown back into the glittering jewel of the Midwest that it once was,” Variety reports.

“Announcing the series order was Kent Alterman, Comedy Central president of original programming, who quipped: “The creative team on ‘Detroiters’ is so ridiculously funny, we’re not even sure we deserve them.”
