A sitcom airing on cable has been canceled after a significant falloff in ratings. Writing on Deadline.com, Nellie Andreeva reports that FX pulled the plug on “Married” after the show’s second season.
“Both ‘Married’ and ‘You Were the Worst’ were picked up for a second season based on FX brass’ faith in the creative,” Andreeva writes. “But ratings have been soft, with ‘Married‘s’ recently concluded second season ranking as the lowest-rated FX series so far this year, down sharply from last year.”
Created by Andrew Gurland, “Married” starred Judy Greer, Nat Faxon, Jenny Slate and Brett Gelman. The first episode, which premiered in July 2014, delivered 1.12 million viewers, but the show never got back up to that number. The final episode of season two, which aired Oct. 1, reportedly managed only 267,000.
