E! Entertainment announced that the cable network has signed an extension with Ryan Seacrest, who will remain as host and executive producer of E!’s successful “Live From the Red Carpet” franchise.
Frances Berwick, President of Lifestyle Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, commented on the extension in the announcement, saying: “With Ryan at the helm for close to ten years now, E!’s ‘Live From the Red Carpet’ series has truly become a mainstay of the network and we are very happy to continue this partnership. Ryan’s close relationships with many of the celebrities on these carpets, combined with his command over all things entertainment and pop culture, makes for interviews that are surprising, compelling and always entertaining — and our viewers love his spontaneous moments on the carpet!”
Seacrest also has a deal with NBC Olympics to host NBC’s late-night coverage of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. “Seacrest served as a correspondent for NBC’s coverage of the 2012 London Games, which was the most-watched television event in U.S. history with more than 217 million viewers,” the announcement notes.
Seacrest commented: “NBCUniversal has long been an important partner to me, and I’m excited to continue our strategic relationship. Live television is both thrilling and challenging in countless ways, and it’s a privilege to be a part of E!’s ‘Live From the Red Carpet’ shows. It’s truly a credit to the entire cast and incredible crew that we’re consistently able to produce the best awards season coverage in the business.”
