Donald Trump, who remains the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, said he’s interested in the possibility of a ticket that would include Texas Sen. Ted Cruz as his running mate.
The New York Daily News reports that Trump was asked about Cruz as a potential running mate during an appearance on “The Laura Ingraham Show.”
Trump is quoted saying of Cruz: “Well, I like him. He’s backed everything I’ve said.”
Trump added: “Ted Cruz is now agreeing with me 100 percent.”
The report notes: “The conservative duo both appeal to the right wing of the GOP, with each drawing support for a hardline approach to immigration, national security and lowering taxes. In addition, Cruz and Trump have consistently refrained from attacking each other and have appeared together at several rallies.”
Cruz has risen to the No. 3 spot behind political outsiders Trump and Dr. Ben Carson in a number of national polls, the report notes.
