Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle is headed to prison after appearing in federal court this morning to plead guilty to a number of sex charges.

NBC News reports that Fogle, a 38-year-old father of two, pleaded guilty to charges of child pornography and crossing state lines to engage in sex with minors. He has reportedly admitted traveling repeatedly from Indiana to New York for sex with children, going back to 2010.

Fogle was awaiting sentencing later today. Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 12-1/2 years, while attorneys for Fogle have asked for a five-year sentence.

“Fogle, whose weight loss journey made him a national celebrity, is expected to address the courtroom in Indianapolis before U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt sentences him later Thursday,” the story reports. “Experts testified that he fantasized about young girls and had a sex drive that ramped up after he began shedding pounds.”

Fogle entered into a plea deal back in August. Under its terms he will register as a sex offender after his release from prison, and will have his digital devices monotored. Prosecutors are pushing to have Fogle supervised for the rest of his life following his release.

Fogle has been making payments to his victims, with 14 victims expected to receive $100,000 apiece.

“Fogle was charged with one count each of traveling to engage in sexual conduct with a minor and receiving child pornography,” the report notes. “The judge, in reviewing the case to the courtroom Thursday, said that the images involved children as young as 6 and that Fogle asked adult prostitutes to procure children for him in various states.”
