They don’t often induct non-humans into the Walk of Fame, but they did Monday, honoring the character Snoopy with his own star on the famed Hollywood landmark.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce bestowed the beloved beagle with the 2,563rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The honor coincided with this week’s release of “The Peanuts Movie,” which comes out Friday.

Snoopy, created by Charles M. Schulz, has been a fixture of comic strips, movies and television since he debuted in the “Peanuts” comic strip in 1950. His star on the Walk of Fame is located right next to that of Schulz.
