NBC Trying to Bring Back ‘Law & Order’

A revival of the original “Law & Order” is being discussed by key players at NBC.

Variety reports that NBC Chairman Robert Greenblatt and Dick Wolf, who executive produces NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Med,” along with “Law & Order: SVU,” talked about the possible project while they were in Chicago on Monday to celebrate the “Chicago” franchise.

Greenblatt and Wolf “said they’ve been trying to get a ‘Law & Order’ revival off the ground,” Variety reports. “The idea would be to cherry-pick cast members from various incarnations of the ‘L&O’ mothership and create an event series consisting of 10 to 13 episodes.”

Said Greenblatt: “We’ve been talking about it on and off for the past year or so, trying to figure out how to do it right. We would only do a close-ended [season]. I don’t t think we’d start the show up again. Nothing’s ruled out, but I think initially we’re thinking, let’s just do another set of episodes and see what we have and take it from there.”

Wolf noted that scheduling is an issue, with many of the cast members busy with other projects. He did note that he knows Sam Waterston wants to get involved.

  1. What’s this “trying” stuff.

If the Peacock people write a check…everything will get started. Discussions are great, but a check makes it real.

    OK, ’nuff said.

  2. Sorry, but without Jerry Orbach, it just won’t be the same. Although it WOULD be interesting to see Michael Moriarty working again. Then again, based on Moriarty’s rants on the website “Enter Stage Right , I doubt that will happen any time soon.

  3. I don’t know about bringing Jerry Orbach back to TV. He’s dead, so it could get expensive.

  4. Since most Law and Order episodes are essentially the same, you edit clips from previous shows and include Orbach like he is still alive. That would get big ratings for the first episode.

  5. I have seen every law and order episode at least 20 times still in reruns it’s still my favorite show. Please please bring back
