NBC’s Al Roker Launches Marathon Stunt

Nov 5, 2015  •  Post A Comment

After pulling off a marathon 34-hour weather forecast a year ago, Al Roker has a new marathon stunt in mind. The AP reports that the “Today” show regular “plans to give reports from all 50 states within a week starting Friday. If successful, he’ll try to have it certified as a Guinness World Record, not that anyone has done it before him.”

The stunt is being undertaken as a benefit for Feeding America.

Said Roker: “If we can shine a light on something that’s a problem, I’m willing to do anything.”

Roker plans to broadcast from Honolulu on Friday, followed by Anchorage, Alaska, on Saturday — getting the biggest travel days out of the way early.

“Then the real fun begins,” the AP reports. “Starting in Spokane, Washington, on Sunday, Roker travels through the Northwest that day. He cheats a little on Monday, visiting the Four Corners, enabling him to cross off Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado at one stop, and gradually makes his way East.”

Roker will deliver forecasts all along his route, including on “Today,” on local NBC affiliates, on cable networks such as CNBC, MSNBC and The Weather Channel, and online.

The tour ends next Friday with stops in Stamford, Conn., and finally, at the “Today” show studio in New York.

  1. Instead of spending all that $$ sending Al to 50 States, why not just donate the full cost to “Feeding the World”. Airfare and hotel alone will be Thousands!! Partying cost also!

  2. You are right. This is more about promoting Roker than Feeding America.
