NBC’s late-night staple “Saturday Night Live” responded to Friday’s terrorist attacks by breaking from its usual comedic opening and opting to make a short statement in support of the city of Paris.

“SNL” cast member Cecily Strong delivered the statement, opening by saying, “Paris is the city of light, and here in New York City we know that light will never go out.”

Strong also delivered her opening remarks in French. Here’s the clip:
