In a rare example of high-level collaboration between two competing media giants, CBS is turning to rival Disney to ensure that the upcoming Super Bowl 50 has an official Spanish-language telecast.
Deadline.com reports that the companies, along with the NFL, reached an agreement that will enable Disney-owned ESPN Deportes to televise the Feb. 7 event.
“As part of this agreement, ESPN Deportes will begin airing comprehensive Super Bowl-related programming beginning February 1, with a Super Bowl Sunday lineup that will feature Live coverage leading up to the game from San Francisco, including a 90-min pregame special at 4:30 p.m. as well as a postgame show,” Deadline reports.
This will be the third time the game has had an official Spanish-language telecast, following Fox’s 2014 coverage that included carriage on Fox Deportes and NBC’s 2015 coverage on NBC Universo.
