Lineup Unveiled for BBC’s ‘Top Gear’ Relaunch

The roster is now in place for the relaunch of BBC’s “Top Gear,” the worldwide hit car show that fell apart after mainstay Jeremy Clarkson famously punched out a producer.

Deadline.com reports that the BBC has put together a lineup led by veteran presenter Chris Evans, along with the previously annnounced former Formula One driver David Coulthard and two relative unknowns: female racing driver Sabine Schmitz and motoring journalist Chris Harris.

“A clutch of higher-profile names, including model Jodie Kidd and presenter Zoe Ball, had been speculated upon in the press as front-runners for the coveted posts,” the report notes.

Clarkson and his former “Top Gear” mates Richard Hammond and James May have a new car-themed show in the works at Amazon, which is expected to compete with the new “Top Gear.”

  1. Nice – “we’re going to take away your affiliate status unless you sell us your station for what it would be worth AFTER we take away your affiliate status.”

Organized crime would be proud of their tactics; there has to be related legislation that would apply here, as this is basically “Sell us your station, or it would be a SHAME if anything happened to it.”

  2. OK, NO idea how a comment I typed on the NBC affiliate page got posted here.
