A new project in the works at ABC has its roots in William Shakespeare and Shonda Rhimes. EW.com reports that the network ordered a pilot for the drama “Still Star-Crossed,” a sequel to Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.”
Rhimes’ Shondaland, which is behind ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How to Get Away With Murder,” is producing the new project. “Scandal’s” Heather Mitchell is writing and executive producing, with Rhimes and Betsy Beers also exec producing.
The drama, based on Melinda Taub’s 2013 novel, tracks the ongoing tussle between the Capulet and Montague families following the deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
