Numbers are in for last night’s broadcast of “The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards” on NBC, and according to Nielsen Media Research fast-official results, the program didn’t quite come up to the numbers posted by last year’s event, when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler co-hosted.
NBC announced that Sunday’s broadcast delivered a 5.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 18.5 million total viewers. The show was down slightly from last year in both measures, after the 2015 program delivered a 5.8 and 19.3 million. NBC notes that this year’s telecast had the disadvantage of going up against 15 minutes of high-rated NFL playoff overrun.
Sunday’s show was up 10% from the previous Ricky Gervais outing as host, with the Jan. 12, 2012, program pulling a 5.0 average in 18-49 with 16.9 million total viewers. The latest show also reportedly outdelivered all Golden Globes telecasts from 2008-2012 in total viewers and matched the high during that five-year span in the 18-49 demo.
