Fox Orders New ’24’ Project — Minus Kiefer Sutherland

Fox is moving ahead with a new version of “24,” with Kiefer Sutherland sitting out this round. EW.com reports that the network ordered a pilot for the remake, which will have an all-new cast. Sutherland, meanwhile, has moved on to a new ABC thriller, “Designated Survivor.”

The “24” producers are looking for an African-American actor to play the lead role in “24: Legacy,” the story reports. Original producers Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz are on board as executive producers.

EW adds: “The ’24’ reboot is about a military hero, ‘Eric Carter,’ who returns to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back — compelling him to ask the Counter Terrorist Unit for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.”

  1. This is good news. Score one for diversity. I was getting sick of Sutherland’s whining style (“come on Chloe…PLEASE!!!”). Time to move on and re-boot.

  2. What How outrageous I’m not happy with keifer Sutherland

  3. We want keifer Sutherland back right now I don’t care Oh by the way we want 24 episode on Fox now I don’t care Oh by the way we want keifer Sutherland back right now hurry up I don’t care dumbass

  6. Even James Bond changes leads. Resetting with new actor is ok if the rest of the team is still around. Sutherland can make some guest appearances after his new show is canceled.
