‘Grizzly Adams’ Star Dan Haggerty Dies

Actor Dan Haggerty, best known for playing the title role on the “Grizzly Adams” TV series that ran on NBC in the 1970s, has died. TMZ.com reports that Haggerty died of cancer early this morning. He was 74.

Haggerty had reportedly been battling cancer for a few months. TMZ reports that doctors discovered the cancer after Haggerty underwent surgery for back pain.

While he remains identified with his two seasons as the mountain man on “The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams” from 1977-78, Haggerty also had a long career in feature films that spanned five decades. His early appearances included roles in “Muscle Beach Party” in 1964 and an uncredited appearance in “Easy Rider” in 1969.

Haggerty is listed as a cast member on two films due out this year: “The Untold Story” and “40 Nights.”
