A Marvel superhero drama that has received rave reviews along with popular approval has been renewed. The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed reports that Netflix picked up “Jessica Jones” for a second season.
The streaming service announced the renewal Sunday at the Television Critics Association press tour. The series premiered to critical acclaim in November, and was reportedly Netflix’s most-watched series during the fourth quarter.
“Jessica Jones” is the second of five Marvel dramas planned for Netflix, joining “Daredevil,” which has also been renewed for its second season, along with the upcoming “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist” and miniseries “The Defenders.”
Netflix is also said to be looking at creating a “Daredevil” spinoff, “The Punisher,” featuring Jon Bernthal of “The Walking Dead” as the title character.
