Showtime has climbed on board a high-profile project that Ben Stiller has been developing for almost a year. Variety reports that the project is a series adaptation of the 2010 bestseller “Super Sad True Love Story,” written by Gary Shteyngart.
Karl Gajdusek is writing the adaptation, with Stiller attached to executive produce and direct. Gajdusek and Shteyngart are also executive producing the project from Media Rights Capital.
“’Super Sad True Love Story’ is a satire of contemporary American values and trends, including the erosion of American political values, the obsession with youth, and the urge to publish personal information through social networking,” Variety notes.
