Talk Show Canceled After Ratings Fall

NBC has pulled the plug on a high-profile daytime talk show after its ratings headed south. The Huffington Post reports that the network will end “The Meredith Vieira Show” after it wraps its second season in May.

In a statement, Vieira said: “I am so sorry to see our show come to an end after this season, but I am also incredibly proud of the work our staff has done and forever grateful to our supportive viewers. We promise to spend our final weeks producing the best broadcast we know how.”

The show’s numbers have reportedly been off by about 25% in season two, following a strong debut for the series in September 2014.

Vieira will remain a presence on NBC when she reports from the Olympic Games this summer.

  1. Very sorry to hear that the Meredith Vieira show is going to be cancelled, she is such a bubbly
Person with so much energy has had entertaining people on the show, and is just a smart lady to listen to not like those crappy reality shows that are all about sex. It is nice to hear somebody on the air with morals and principle . Hopefully the ratings will pick up in the New Yer!
