With the numbers in for January 2016, one cable channel is celebrating the highest-rated month in its history in prime time in viewers 25-54. HGTV announced that it delivered a 0.65 average rating in the demo during the month in prime time, up 14% from January 2015.
The channel also had a 0.60 average rating in 25-54 on weekends (Saturday-Sunday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.), rising 14% over a year ago. HGTV announced that it was No. 1 on cable on weekends in women 25-54.
“In January, series such as ‘Fixer Upper,’ featuring Chip and Joanna Gaines; ‘Flip or Flop’ with Tarek and Christina El Moussa, and ‘Ellen’s Design Challenge,’ the furniture design competition that was conceptualized by Ellen DeGeneres, drove the network to record viewing levels,” the network announced. “Other top performing series for the month included ‘Property Brothers’ starring Jonathan and Drew Scott, ‘Beachfront Bargain Hunt’ and ‘Island Life.'”
