A comic book series that many people of a certain age read as a kid is in the works for a TV adaptation, and Deadline.com reports that actor Luke Perry is on board. The former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star is set for a co-starring role in the “Riverdale” pilot, a CW adaptation of the Archie comics, the story reports.
Perry will play Fred Andrews, Archie’s dad, in the project from producer Greg Berlanti. “Set in present time, ‘Riverdale’ is a subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small-town life — the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade,” Deadline reports.
Earlier castings include Lili Reinhart as Betty Cooper and Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones.
