CNN Hires Former NBC News Stalwart Who Made Abrupt Exit From the Peacock Network

CNN announced today that it has hired one of the former mainstays of NBC News. The cable news channel is bringing aboard David Gregory as a political analyst, the AP reports.

Gregory, the former moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” ended his 20-year tenure with NBC News with his abrupt, highly public ouster in 2014. “The network’s management, concerned about fading ratings on a show that dominated Sunday-morning political television for years, replaced him with Chuck Todd,” the AP notes.

At CNN, Gregory will be based in Washington and will appear primarily on the morning news show “New Day.”

CNN has also hired political consultant Angela Rye, the former executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus, as an analyst, the report notes.
