Legendary Entertainment has brought aboard an industry veteran to fill the newly created position of vice chair of worldwide production. Variety reports that the company hired Mary Parent for the post.
The move comes three days after the exit of Jon Jashni as president and chief creative officer.
“Parent will oversee all aspects of the company’s film, television, digital, mobile and new-media development and production activities, reporting to Legendary Chairman-CEO [Thomas] Tull, who made the announcement today,” Variety reports.
Parent formerly chaired Metro Goldwyn Mayer’s Worldwide Motion Picture Group. In 2004, she and Scott Stuber were named Vice Chairmen of Worldwide Production for Universal Pictures. She was also President of Production for Universal Studios, among her many industry positions. In 2011 she co-founded Disruption Entertainment. Parent was a producer on the recent Oscar winner “The Revenant.”
