One of Hollywood’s most successful film producers is developing a new family drama series for the cable channel Freeform.
Joel Silver, whose string of hits includes entries in the “Lethal Weapon,” “Die Hard” and “The Matrix” franchises, among many other successful films, is behind a new project called “New People,” Deadline.com reports.
The series, from “The Opposite of Sex” writer-director Don Roos and Lionsgate Television, along with Silver’s Silver Pictures, is a transgender drama inspired by the nonfiction bestseller “Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family” by Amy Ellis Nutt.
Freeform, which was ABC Family until early this year, has taken on transgender issues before, in the docuseries “Becoming Us.”
