Cosby Seeks to Have His Deposition About Affairs and Drugs Excluded From Current Legal Scrapes

A deposition in which Bill Cosby talks about extramarital affairs, quaaludes and payments to women is at the center of the latest moves by the comedian’s team of lawyers.

According to the AP, Cosby is seeking to have the testimony resealed, which would prevent it from being used in his criminal sexual assault case or in current civil cases in which he’s accused of sexual assault or defamation.

The decade-old deposition became public last year. Attorneys for Cosby argued Wednesday in the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court in Philadelphia that the material was unsealed in error.

In a legal brief, Cosby lawyer Patrick J. O’Connor wrote: “A reversal by this court would allow defendant to argue to the various courts in which he finds himself a party — or may in the future find himself a party — that, because the unsealing order was erroneous, the unsealed documents, and information learned from the unsealed documents, should not be introduced in court as evidence against defendant.”

  1. Just give up and settle the cases. The money you are wasting on lawyers would be better put to settlements and ending this public shaming.
