Fox Cable Personality Treated for Lung Cancer

In a piece that was posted Wednesday on the Fox News website, Fox cable personality John Stossel revealed that he is being treated for lung cancer. Stossel, who appears regularly on Fox Business Network and does guest commentaries on Fox News Channel, indicated that he was writing the piece while in the hospital.

“My doctors tell me my growth was caught early and I’ll be fine,” Stossel wrote. “Soon I will barely notice that a fifth of my lung is gone. I believe them. After all, I’m at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. U.S. News & World Report ranked it No. 1 in New York. I get excellent medical care here.”

Stossel, who’s known for his libertarian political views and has focused largely on consumer issues during his broadcast career, goes on to critique the hospital and the health care system in general, advocating for a free-market system. The headline on his commentary includes the phrase “the customer service stinks.”

Stossel was a fixture at ABC News whose work was seen regularly on “20/20” and “Good Morning America” before he moved to Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network in 2009.
