An NBA playoff game that aired Sunday is the most-watched game in the first round of the NBA playoffs in 14 years. ESPN and ABC Sports announced that Game 4 of the Golden State Warriors-Houston Rockets game, which aired on ABC, averaged 7.238 million viewers (p2+) and a 4.5 U.S. household rating, based on Nielsen data. The broadcast peaked from 5:30- 6 p.m. ET with 8.346 million viewers (p2+) and a 5.0 U.S. household rating.

The game was up 11% in viewership and 10% in rating from last year’s comparable first round-game between the L.A. Clippers and the San Antonio Spurs, which delivered 6.514 million (p2+) and a 4.1 U.S. rating.

Sunday’s game was the most-watched first-round NBA playoff game since April 21, 2002, when the L.A. Lakers played the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Warriors won the game easily, 121-94, to take a 3-1 lead in the series, but the victory was marred by a knee injury to the Warriors’ top player, reigning league MVP Stephen Curry.
