The “MythBusters” mainstays are no more, and with Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage gone, Science Channel is turning the search for their replacements into its own show.

As part of the 2016-17 upfront slate for Science Channel — click here to see full details on the lineup — the cable channel has unveiled plans for “Search for the Next MythBusters.”

Casting is under way (see details in the video clip below).

The new slate also includes the return of “Punkin Chunkin,” a special the channel describes as “an epic gathering of unconventional engineers and builders as they battle it out using air cannons, centrifuges, catapults and even trebuchets to see whose homemade contraptions can propel a pumpkin the farthest.”

Click here for details on these shows, along with the rest of the lineup, including the new series “How to Build … Everything” and returning shows “Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman” and “Survivorman.”

Here’s a clip about the “Search for the Next MythBusters” casting call — including a few vintage “MythBusters” explosions … OK, a LOT of “MythBusters” explosions:

  1. Don’t we have some other Discovery-family series to thank for “Punkin Chunkin”?
I want to say “Little People, Big World,” but that’s likely not it…
