Springsteen Cancels Concert in Protest

Apr 8, 2016  •  Post A Comment

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band canceled a concert that had been scheduled for Sunday night in Greensboro, N.C., as a protest against the state’s so-called “bathroom bill,” Rolling Stone reports. The protest targets North Carolina’s passage of the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act.

“In a note on the rocker’s official website, Springsteen condemned lawmakers for passing legislature that infringes so heavily on the rights of the state’s LGBT community,” the article reports. The message from Springsteen states: “No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden.”

Rolling Stone notes: “As part of the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act, also known as HB2, transgender people are forced to use restrooms associated with their birth certificate, and the LGBT community’s rights within the workplace are also impinged.”

Springsteen writes in his message: “To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress.”

  1. F*ck you, Bruuuuuuuuuuuuce!

  2. Bruce will instead enjoy some quality time with chix with dix…

  3. Way to go Bruce! The Videosavant must be angry that he’s going to miss a great concert for all of the right reasons. Either that or he is is taking his first “growing up” pains,

  4. The issue is that there is a presumption that all people are good and honest. The question that must be answered before opening restrooms to everyone is how do you prevent the real perverts from using this as an excuse to hang in the ladies bathroom claiming to be LGBT but using it as an excuse to monitor the kids and ladies activities, and take photos and videos with his iPhone. This is a legitimate concern for all women, including the LGBT community. Once there is a method for controlling that – there will be significant public support. But until then, this is going to be a significant issue in the mainstream community. Watch Spotlight and you can see why the general public has concerns about this type of issue.

  5. Perverts misusing restrooms is as dangerous as voter fraud. It’s a non issue. It’s a problem that doesn’t actually exist.

  6. Wwwparker…Oh to be as naive as you… 🙂
