We Love the Title of This Late-Night Show in Development — But How Will It Sit With Pat Robertson?

A new late-night show could be an uncomfortable fit with Pat Robertson’s “700 Club,” with the new show planned as either Robertson’s lead-in or his lead-out. The new show, which is in development at Disney/ABC’s Freeform, is called “Later Bitches.”

The show, from “Daily Show” executive producer Jennifer Flanz and producer Elise Terrell, is described as a “Sex in the City” version of late-night talk, according to the Los Angeles Times, which notes that Freeform says the show is hosted by “a group of smart, alluring and dynamic ladies having fun on their own terms.” No on-air talent is yet attached to the project.

“The project, if it comes to fruition, would bring another woman’s point of view to the male-dominated late-night domain,” the Times reports. “Since the departure of ‘Chelsea Lately’ from E!, ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee,’ which only airs once a week on TBS, is the sole female voice in topical late-night comedy.”

Robertson’s show has a lock on Freeform’s 11 p.m. time slot going back to when Robertson founded the channel as the Christian Broadcasting Network. It later evolved into The Family Channel, Fox Family and ABC Family before being rebranded this year as Freeform, and the original agreement to run the Robertson program remains in force in perpetuity.

  1. This would be funny if your readers were 14. Time to grow up.

  2. That is funny, actually.
I hope Pat Robertson throws to his lead-out (“Well, that’s all the time we have. God bless you all and stay tuned for Later Bitches!”… But it will probably be a lead-in and Pat will have to open every 700 Club stunned, flabbergasted, outraged or praying for the souls behind what was on the air prior to his show… Until he finally has enough and pulls his show from the network, that is. Crafty move, Freeform.
