Whoa! Kobe Bryant Ends Career by Scoring 60 Points (!) in His Final Game

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant closed out his 20-year NBA career Wednesday night in unexpected fashion, scoring 60 points to rally the Lakers to a 101-96 win over the Utah Jazz.

On a big night for the NBA, Bryant’s feat stole some of the thunder from the Golden State Warriors, who played their final game of the season at the same time and wrapped up a record 73-9 season with a dominating 125-104 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Warriors record had been expected after Golden State got past San Antonio earlier in the week, and the final game was decided early, prompting many insiders and NBA fans to switch from the Warriors game on ESPN to the Lakers game on ESPN2. But almost nobody saw the Kobe Bryant scoring outburst coming after a difficult year for the Lakers and their veteran shooting guard.

Let’s go to the highlights …
