CBS has placed series orders for four new dramas and two new comedies, according to media reports. On the drama side, the network ordered “Training Day,” “Bull,” “Pure Genius” and “MacGyver.” The network also ordered the comedies “Man With a Plan” and “The Great Indoors.”
Deadline.com notes that “Training Day” is a sequel to the Denzel Washington feature film, with Jerry Bruckheimer among the executive producers. “MacGyver” is a reboot of the classic TV series from CBS TV Studios in association with Lionsgate.
“Bull,” inspired by Dr. Phil McGraw, stars Michael Weatherly and includes Dr. Phil among the executive producers, along with Paul Attanasio, Steven Spielberg and others. “Pure Genius” (working title) is a Jason Katims project formerly known as “Bunker Hill.”
“Man With a Plan” and “The Great Indoors” are both multicamera comedies. “Man With a Plan” stars Matt LeBlanc, who is also an executive producer on the show. “The Great Indoors” stars Joel McHale as an adventure reporter.
