A section of Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles was shut down Wednesday evening after a man climbed the transmission tower for KTLA-TV, CBS News reports. The man reportedly stood on the tower for hours before being convinced to climb down after a good Samaritan offered to give him a hug.
The offer came from a woman who said she knew the man from a local church where she had recently handed out food to him. The man climbed down by 8 p.m., and streets were soon reopened, ending a traffic nightmare.
The man was expected to undergo mental health evaluation, the story notes.
