Monday Morning ‘We Kid You Not’ Dept.: Wait Till You Hear Why Starbucks Is Being Sued

The Starbucks coffee chain is facing a $5 million lawsuit over what some observers might consider an odd complaint. The suit alleges that Starbucks puts too much ice in its iced coffee.

Time magazine reports that the suit is from an Illinois woman, Stacy Pincus, who is lead plaintiff on a class action filed last week, according to Courthouse News Service.

The suit states: “Starbucks is advertising the size of its Cold Drink cups on its menu, rather than the amount of fluid a customer will receive when they purchase a Cold Drink — and deceiving its customers in the process.”

Jamie Riley, a spokesperson for Starbucks, told CNN that the company believes the claim is without merit. Riley told CNN: “Our customers understand and expect that ice is an essential component of any ‘iced’ beverage. If a customer is not satisfied with their beverage preparation, we will gladly remake it.”

  1. At Dunks, I say, “easy on the ice”, simple as that. Some people are just crazy.
