Disney is ready to expand the reach of its lucrative “Frozen” franchise, including creating a series of animated shorts that will air on the Disney Channel.
“The company says Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven from the blockbuster 2013 animated film will appear in both new books from Random House and an animated short film series from the Lego Group,” the AP reports. “The eight-book series ‘Frozen Northern Lights’ will revolve around the characters attempting to restore the aurora borealis with a new troll protagonist named Little Rock.”
The book series is due for a July release, to be followed by a fall premiere for the animated shorts on Disney Channel.
“The four shorts inspired by the books will feature the film’s original voice actors as Lego versions of the characters,” the AP notes.
“Frozen” is also in the works as a Broadway show and a number of new theme park attractions, not to mention a movie sequel.
