James Corden revealed a surprise plan for Sunday’s Tony Awards, where he will unleash his secret weapon, karaoke, to keep the audience entertained during commercial breaks.
The host of CBS’s “Late Late Show” has created a cottage industry with his “Carpool Karaoke” segments, including a recent Broadway-themed all-star clip that you can watch by clicking here. Now he hopes to put his karaoke savvy to use to solve a perennial problem plaguing live televised events, where things tend to slow down for those in attendance while they wait for the live broadcast to resume.
Corden indicated that the karaoke breaks will be only for those on hand at the Beacon Theatre, and not necessarily for broadcast. He unveiled the plan during an appearance Wednesday on NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
