Vin Scully Goes Off-Script Before Quickly Snapping Back to Baseball

A number of viewers of a recent L.A. Dodgers game were amused by a moment of unusually political reverie by longtime Dodgers announcer Vin Scully — especially by his rather abrupt return to the matter at hand: the baseball game.

Scully, who’s known for his ability to fill in the gaps between the action with pertinent tidbits of info, uncorked an indictment of socialism in Venezuela while Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Hernan Perez, who is Venezuelan, was at bat. Then Scully quickly regained focus when it came time to call the pitch count.
