Why Jon Stewart’s Appearance in ‘Batman v Superman’ Wound Up on the Cutting Room Floor

Former “Daily Show” host Jon Stewart was supposed to appear in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” when it hit theaters, but Stewart’s cameo was cut from the movie. Cinema Blend explains that his omission from the theatrical cut of the movie apparently was attributable to a combination of two events — Stewart’s exit as host of “The Daily Show” and the movie’s delayed release.

Stewart was supposed to offer a comedic take on Superman as host of “The Daily Show,” which would have made sense had the movie come out on its original July 2015 release date. But the movie’s release was pushed back to March 2016, well after Stewart left “The Daily Show” in August, and producers did not want to keep a segment that would have made the movie appear outdated.

The Stewart appearance is reportedly included as part of about 30 minutes of extra footage that has been added to the movie’s “Ultimate Edition” home media release.

  1. Jon is very talented. And missed. And lucky to have been left out of a forgettable flick.
