The final appearance for one of baseball’s best, and most controversial, players will be televised live this Friday when Fox carries the last game in pinstripes for New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez.

Technically, the future is unclear for Rodriguez, who announced his retirement in the past week. Insiders note that it’s possible he will end up playing for another team, although his future with the Yankees appears to be sealed.

Fox announced that Friday’s game between the Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium will be televised live nationally, with play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt, analyst John Smoltz and reporter Ken Rosenthal working the game.

“The YES Network will also televise the game live within its footprint (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania), with YES’ pregame coverage beginning at 6:00 pm ET,” the Fox announcement notes.

The Fox broadcast will include pregame coverage starting at 7 p.m. ET, with host Chris Myers and analysts Frank Thomas, Tom Verducci and CJ Nitkowski reporting from Yankee Stadium.
