A new series will follow one of television’s most outspoken commentators as he examines race and other issues that have created deep divisions among the American people. TNT announced Sunday that it has greenlighted “The Race Card” (working title), to be hosted by sports personality Charles Barkley.

The series will follow the “Inside the NBA” analyst and basketball legend on what TNT calls “a personal journey to explore and understand why our country is so divided right now.” The announcement comes as the cable channel is in the midst of evolving its slate of original programming, with premiere dates now set for “Good Behavior,” starring “Downton Abbey’s” Michelle Dockery (Nov. 15), and season three of the hit fantasy series “The Librarians” (Nov. 20).

TNT also announced it has ordered a pilot for the Rod Lurie drama “Monsters of God” and has commissioned a fourth season of the drama series “The Last Ship.”

  1. With Barkley this could be a VERY interesting program.

  2. Wasn’t a fan of Mr. Barkley when he played for Auburn (Roll Tide!) but I have a lot of respect for him now. I will definitely watch this program. I am confident he will get beyond the politically correct drivel and bring new insight to this subject.

  3. He should start his preparation by watching the ESPN Doc on OJ. It provides some of the best balanced insight I have ever seen about how race has developed in our society.
