Report: CBS’s ‘Criminal Minds’ Plans Cast Shakeup Following the Firing of Thomas Gibson

CBS’s long-running drama series “Criminal Minds” reportedly has some cast moves in the works following the departure of longtime star Thomas Gibson. TVLine reports that the procedural is looking to add two new series regulars.

One of the new arrivals is expected to be a successor to Gibson’s Aaron Hotchner as team leader. “Details on the other role are being kept under wraps for now,” the story reports.

Gibson was fired from the show earlier this month after a clash on the set in which he allegedly kicked a producer, as we reported previously.

“In the past, Gibson had been made to attend anger-management classes after reportedly shoving an assistant director,” TVLine notes.

The report adds: “Gibson’s ouster — and the impending new additions — come as the series was already in a state of transition following last spring’s departure of original cast member Shemar Moore. Other changes include Adam Rodriguez’s full-time arrival as Alvez, Paget Brewster’s short-term return as Prentiss and Aisha Tyler’s promotion to series regular as Dr. Tara Lewis.”

  1. It’s all jacked now…no longer watching….

  2. As we posted before, we will not be watching anymore either.

  3. As much as I love the show, I also will no longer be watching. There just is no CM without Thomas Gibson.

  4. Thomas Gibson was the only reason I watched the show and therefore I have no reason to watch CM anymore. I get that Mr. Gibson needs to get punished and if it´s firing – so be it. But the writer seems to have been not innocent either in that escalation. Would be interesting to hear both sides of the stories – or actually – the truth.

  5. I have been a fan without missing a show since 2005, as my family and friends have. However, none of us are watching any more. Removing Thomas Gibson from the show, after first suspending him for 2 weeks, then firing him, his a totally unheard process by Human Resources. Sounds to me like CBS execs, writers etc were ready to kick him out the door before this even happened. Do they really think that having him on Episode ! & 2 should resolve the firing issue? We are not watching him die off, or retire when the writer himself should be let go and not Thomas Gibson, who gave his all. Bye bye CM. I switched over the Law & Order.
