‘St. Elsewhere’ Actress Dies

An actress who was one of the co-stars of NBC’s groundbreaking 1980s medical drama series “St. Elsewhere” has died. Variety reports that Sagan Lewis, who played Dr. Jacqueline Wade on the show, died Sunday at her home in New York City.

Lewis, 63, died following a six-year battle with cancer. She was married to Emmy-winning television creator Tom Fontana.

Lewis followed up her seven-season run on “St. Elsewhere” with a few acting jobs, including a recurring role as a judge on the acclaimed cop show “Homicide: Life on the Street” in the 1990s.
