A Fox drama series is searching for a new showrunner after a shakeup behind the cameras. TVLine reports that producer-writer Charles Murray (“Sons of Anarchy”) stepped down from his role on the musical drama “Star,” Lee Daniels’ follow-up to “Empire.”
The show is due to premiere at midseason.
“A source close to the project tells TVLine that Murray and ‘Star’ co-creators Daniels and Tom Donaghy had different visions for the series, which led to an amicable parting of the ways,” TVLine reports. “The search is on for a new showrunner.”
The report adds: “Set in Atlanta, ‘Star’ revolves around three young women (Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady) who form a musical act and navigate the cutthroat business on their road to success. The cast also includes Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, and Nicholas Gonzalez.”
