Battle Heats Up Over Potentially Damaging Trump ‘Apprentice’ Outtakes

A legal battle is brewing over alleged outtakes from “The Apprentice,” with Donald Trump threatening to sue if the tapes are made public, Deadline.com reports.

Interest in “Apprentice” tapes that could be damaging to Trump was piqued when Bill Pruitt, a former producer on “The Apprentice,” responded to the “Access Hollywood” tape with a tweet Saturday saying, “I assure you: when it comes to the #trumptapes there are far worse. #justthebegininng.”

“On Tuesday, attorney Gloria Allred and representatives from several women’s advocacy groups tried to deliver an open letter to [Mark] Burnett at MGM’s offices in Beverly Hills, but security guards wouldn’t let them in the building,” Deadline reports.

Burnett, who created “The Apprentice,” and MGM have been saying they cannot release the outtakes. As we reported previously, MGM and Burnett issued a joint statement Monday in which they said: “MGM owns Mark Burnett’s production company and ‘The Apprentice’ is one of its properties. Despite reports to the contrary, Mark Burnett does not have the ability nor the right to release footage or other material from ‘The Apprentice.’ Various contractual and legal requirements also restrict MGM’s ability to release such material.”

“Allred, however, isn’t having any of that, and offered to assemble a panel of three retired judges to view the material and the contracts to see if it could be legally presented to the public,” Deadline reports, noting that Allred spoke today on the steps outside the MGM offices, reading her letter before a bank of news cameras.

Allred’s open letter to Burnett and MGM reads:

“I am writing to request an immediate meeting with you and/or senior executives at MGM with reference to the release of footage of ‘The Apprentice.’ You have publicly stated that there are legal restrictions and prohibitions on releasing the tapes. I would request and welcome a meeting with you and your attorneys in which you would explain in detail the specifics of those claimed restrictions and/or prohibitions. In the alternative, I would propose that the evidence supporting your assertion that there is a legal basis for your refusal to release footage of Mr. Trump on ‘The Apprentice’ be disclosed to a panel of three retired Los Angeles Superior Court judges who would review your claimed legal restrictions and determine if the footage of Mr. Trump can legally be released.”

  1. Gloria Alread is an ambulance chasing cow looking for nothing more than piblicity at others expense

    • You misspelled ‘coward’ as you certainly did not mean to write cow! That would be completely politically incorrect name calling. But your comment is quite accurate. We would have to believe that MGM’s legal department is incompetent and need Allred’s team of old retired judges to set them straight! The desperation of the Hillary campaign is being demonstrated at every turn because they can’t campaign on her record, talents, skills or knowledge.

      • Reality Check, you left out one other, very important thing they can’t campaign on…her CHARACTER

  2. Haha…well just watch Hillary moon walk into the White House.
