CNN Severs Ties With Commentator Caught in Political Scandal

Oct 31, 2016  •  Post A Comment

CNN announced today that it has severed ties with a political commentator who has been a fixture of the cable network’s campaign coverage. The New York Times reports that the news network cut loose Democratic strategist Donna Brazile.

The move comes “after hacked emails showed that she shared questions for CNN-sponsored candidate events with friends on Hillary Clinton’s campaign,” The Times reports.

“Ms. Brazile, a veteran political analyst for the network, had temporarily left CNN in July when she became interim chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee,” the story reports. “CNN said that it accepted her formal resignation on Oct. 14.”

The report quotes network spokeswoman Lauren Pratapas saying: “We are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor.”

Pratapas said in a statement that the network “never gave Brazile access to any questions, prep material, attendee list, background information or meetings in advance of a town hall or debate.”

The Times adds: “The network’s announcement came shortly after a new batch of hacked emails, released by WikiLeaks on Monday, revealed a note from Ms. Brazile sent on March 5 — a day before a CNN-sponsored debate in Flint, Mich. — with this subject line: ‘One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash.

“’Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint,’ Ms. Brazile wrote to John Podesta, the Clinton campaign chairman, and Jennifer Palmieri, the candidate’s communications director.”

  1. But they keep Lewandowski, who was being paid by Trump (how rare is that?) while working at CNN… No hypocrisy there….

  2. Pratapas said in a statement that the network “never gave Brazile access to any questions, prep material, attendee list, background information or meetings in advance of a town hall or debate.”

Considering Brazile’s email to Podesta, we know that is not true. The next question that CNN should be asking is where she did get the information she sent to Podesta?

  3. Scotty G. Lewandowski wasn’t sending “The Donald” debate questions on the sly and then lying about it repeatedly while being “persecuted” by interviewers.
